TNF Classic--SUN-TV, Part 2

sun_tv

7:00 Closer’s House – Picked up the Closer, admired his home, listened to his lewd and salacious stories.

MIDTOWN

7:45 Hair of the Dog – Started the evening activities at one of Nashville’s hottest new nightspots. Due to the early arrival, there was not any activity there. Drank very bitter Pyramid IPA beer with the Captain, while Closer consumed hard liquors. Exchanged tales of physical strength and moral bravery. Closer grew tired of only speaking to men and demanded that we leave for greener pastures. All agreed that the bar would have been a cool place, if only other people had been present.

8:30 Tin Roof – Located in the Demonbreun loop, Tin Roof is one of a half dozen bars that have reinvigorated a previously dead part of downtown. Now, that place is teeming with all kinds of fun people every night of the week (I have no idea about Sunday nights), including suitors of Britney Spears. the_closer_getting_started The Closer was very at home at the Tin Roof, buying drinks and offering food to many of the surprisingly numerous attractive women within the Closer’s “vibe” distance. The Closer warmed up on some ladies who might have been in town for the Pride celebration, but he soon got his groove on and was striking up conversation with all kinds of hotties about their fashionable purses (which worked), hockey, and the visual arts. The Closer further employed the bar “funnel” technique (TIP # 32) to great advantage. As with later stops, we should have stayed there, but we were fearful of departing from the published agenda and disappointing late TNF attendees.

10:15 Bar23 – This trendy hot spot has been the site of many of TNF’s great evenings. It had been more than a month since the last visit, and, shockingly, the crowd was sparse, even taking into account that we were there early. the_engaged_hotties As appears to be the norm, the ratios were very good there (and the girls there were all very attractive). twerking_it TNF quickly befriended a large group of girls and hit our stride.

High Point: The Closer knowing one of the girls and thus getting us in very good with the group, after Roboto’s exceptional initiation (TIP # 17). The “Divide and Conquer” strategy, in which every TNF engaged at least two girls to establish and maintain the connection (TIP # 43, also known as “No Hotties Left Behind”). PICT0877 PICT0880 Low Point: Despite professions in common, Roboto’s hottie was engaged and--wtf?--her fiance walked in right as Roboto was slinging crazy game. Roboto was forced to move from selling (to an interested buyer) into a PR role for the other TNFs. Again, we erred in not following them to the Tin Roof, because--despite their invite--we wanted to stay on our agenda. Egregious error, based on hubristic assumption that good nights can get even better.

DOWNTOWN

printers_alley Lonnies
11:30 Lonnies Western Room – At this point, some dissension crept into the ranks, as I questioned going to Lonnies, which, although one of the greatest dive bars in the world, is also a difficult place to meet girls. lonnies_is_great

The Closer was having one of those nights, however, and he befriended three cuties who, although unwilling to sing with us, were very interested in being our friends.

Captain T expressed some displeasure about some of the changes that Lonnies has made, but was very pleased to see that his favorite bartendress/singer has returned and is as gorgeous as ever. A good visit, but it slowed down our night. Expect a more detailed examination of Lonnies in a later post, after some of our criticisms are first respectfully discussed with Mr. Lonnie Powers.

12:20 The Stagethe_stage This place has been discussed earlier on the site, as Roboto is always impressed with the number of attractive young people who love classic rock and outlaw country. At Roboto’s urging, TNF detoured here for a quick visit, and TNF was not disappointed. The dance floor was packed, and hotties were everywhere. Unfortunately, we were on a tight timeframe to get to Johnny Jackson’s, so we did not fully get our crunk on at this time. The Closer? He did not need much time, as he had this crazy hot girl chatting him up and hugging him. PICT0907

1:15 Johnny Jackson’s Soul Satisfaction at the Bar Car – What can I say about JJSS that hasn’t already been said by poets and orators already? It’s off the heezy fo sheezy. It’s the dance club that any father would design for his son. Loud, dark, great music, and great ratios. This night was as great as ever, with The Closer continuing his dominance, chatting up and dancing every girl in sight. It was simply his night. In fact, my best action of the night was when I was reduced to hitting on one of his satellite super hotties with the initiation, “hey, do you know [The Closer] too?” PICT0924 A great young lady, bootylicious, and loving me and my L, but there was some confusion later, as the dude that began to hover around the two of us may or may not have been her husband. I need better club hearing. Maybe he was in town for the Pride celebration too and wanted to befriend either of us.

4:15 White Castle -- Waiting in the drive through of White Castle, debating. Thankfully, the line was long enough that my brain won out over my stomach.

Finally, A Good Time in Nashville (TNF repost)

For the first time since November, TNF had an extremely fun time in Nashville. And it happened in a very surprising place: Lower Broad (aka the honky tonk district).

Yep. In the course of trying to figure out where The Crunk had disappeared to, we decided to get back to our 2003 roots, a simpler time when a guy in a fancy western shirt was guaranteed a good time, an occasional free drink, and close dances with fairly pretty girls. If that guy knew the complete lyrics to one or two 1980s country songs, well, then his odds were that much better.

The TNF Intern wasn't scheduled to appear, but, after a frustrating turn of events that resulted him in going to the Lipstick Lounge with a lady and leaving without, he was willing to meet up.

TrapAfter hearing favorable things about The Trap, we ducked in at midnight and it was deserted. Obviously, we left there immediately. The Trap has a real Urban Cowboy feel--and a mechanical bull--so let's all pray that it stays in business.

Next, it was The Stage, which had a line to get in the front door. Maybe the Nashville Kats home opener boosted downtown for the night. The Stage is the most consistently fun of the SoBro bars. It always has a big crowd, and their weekend house band appeals to younger set by staying on the rock side of country music. The big shocker was finding girlfriend Kassie working there, but not singing; she's performing at other places, she said, but, still, it's a shock to see her wasting a weekend night selling beers.

It was far too dude-crowded there, so we went to the Second Fiddle (after, of course, lowering our usual standards and talking to a few unattractive girls). Second Fiddle generally has a really good crowd on weekend nights. There, we met two aspiring singers, who then went with us to some of the other SoBro bars.

The Intern, though, still harboring some newfound distrust of females, decided that it'd be awesome to leave the pretty girls we'd met and go somewhere else (after they had spent just a tad too long talking to some greasy dudes they knew). Not really having a dog in the fight (I was chatting up the prettier--but completely sober and skeptical-- one), I agreed and we headed to Second Avenue.

Coyote Ugly, at 2AM, was charging a $5 cover. Good luck with that. We went to Lonnies, where Lonnie K. Powers' business acumen was on full display: he's doubled the amount of early 20's female singers. And, for some reason, this has resulted in girls coming back to Lonnies. Lots of them.

We had a really good time there, but we simply ran out of time (especially when the lights come on at 2:30).

The worst part was, as we driving away from downtown, we passed our two girlfriends from earlier, waiting to cross the street. I rolled down the passenger window, and the first words they said to us? "What happened to you guys? We were looking for you."

Yeah, that's what you get for listening to someone nicknamed "The Intern."

The same mistakes will not be made next weekend, as Captain T comes to town. (Also, there'll be pictures).

Mission Statement

We run Thursday Night Fever. That site, in some ways, has become a respectable site, which some people who know me in real life read. Accordingly, it has gotten a little off track, mission-wise. TNF initially, was all about nightlife and The Crunk and talking to pretty girls and laughing about it afterwards. But, I've had to "nice" it up over there.

This site will not be "nice." It will do all of the above things, with pictures. You're welcome to visit over there, though.
